Tasting notes
- Vineyard Region Margaret River, WA
- Vintage Conditions After a cool, wet finish to 2008, the ripening months experienced warm weather punctuated with short, cool, dry spells. The conditions allowed slow and even ripening of the fruit, resulting in richly flavoured wines with fantastic varietal intensity.
- Grape Varietal 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot
- Vinification and Maturation Grapes were picked in the cool of the night to retain the classic Margaret River fruit flavours in the wine. The fruit was then fermented and pumped over three times daily during the fermentation period. After fermentation, the fruit was held in tank to help soften the tannins within the wine, increase weight and length and to extract maximum flavour. The wine was held in new, one and two year old oak to mature before a final blending for bottling.
- Winemaker Matthew Byrne's Notes
- Colour Medium red purple with crimson hues.
- Aroma Fresh and intense blackberries, blueberries and blackcurrant aromas are found on this varietal nose, combining seamlessly with secondary notes of chocolate and mocha.
- Palate A rich and intense wine, filled with mulberries and blackberries. The palate is beautifully structured, with balanced acidity and soft, silky tannins providing a long, round and flavoursome finish.
