Current release Mount Pleasant Lovedale takes trophy

In wine show results just announced, McWilliam's Wines has achieved some impressive outcomes at the Adelaide Wine Show 2009, Bathurst Cool Climate Wine Show 2009 and Australian Inland Wine Show 2009, including a Trophy for Best Semillon in Show for the 2005 Mount Pleasant Lovedale Semillon.

The Best Semillon in Show Trophy for Mount Pleasant’s iconic Semillon and a Best Australian Tawny Trophy for McWilliam’s Show Shiraz Touriga were the highlights of the company’s success at this year’s Adelaide Wine Show. In total, McWilliam’s Wines was awarded two trophies, four gold, nine silver and 14 bronze medals.

In great news for wine lovers, a collection of current release wines have also taken gold medals at the Bathurst Cool Climate Wine Show 2009. Consistent performers at this show, cool climate winery’s Brand’s Laira Coonawarra and Barwang were awarded gold medals for the 2005 Brand’s Laira Stentiford’s Old Vine Shiraz, 2006 Brands Laira Shiraz and 2008 Barwang Hilltops Cabernet Sauvignon.

In what is proving a star performer, the current release 2006 Brands Laira Shiraz now holds 5 gold medals to its name. Following the gold medal-winning 2007 vintage, the current release 2008 Catching Thieves Cabernet Merlot also took gold at the Bathurst Cool Climate Wine Show 2009.

Finally, in results announced for the Australian Inland Wine Show 2009, the notable highlight was a gold medal for the recently released 2007 McWilliam’s Morning Light Botrytis Semillon. McWilliam’s fortifieds were also recognised with McWilliam’s Hanwood Estate Muscat and McWilliam’s Hanwood Classic Oloroso Sherry awarded gold medals.
