  • McWilliam's Hanwood Estate Winery

Set in the midst of the unique Australian landscape is the McWilliam's Hanwood Estate Winery. Established in 1917, the winery stands today as a pillar of winemaking excellence dedicated to creating the very best wines.

In March 2008, following two years of significant investment and expansion, the new McWilliam's Hanwood Estate Winery was opened.

The multi-million dollar development project saw the creation of a new small winemaking facility, created to handle small, premium parcels, with state-of-the-art equipment as well as new laboratory and winemaking areas, and a brand new office. The expansion allows greater flexibility and opportunities for wine style development and innovation in the region and an ongoing commitment to the Riverina area since its winemaking potential was first discovered 100 years ago by John James McWilliam in 1913, when he established the first winery in the region - McWilliam's Hanwood Estate. • McWilliam's Mount Pleasant Winery

McWilliam’s Mount Pleasant Winery, home to the Old Hill Vineyard planted in 1880, is one of Australia’s most treasured vineyard sites. Located just two hours north of Sydney in the Hunter Valley, the winery creates some of Australia’s most celebrated and awarded wine styles.

In 1921, O’Shea, having just returned from France persuaded his mother to purchase a 16.3 hectare property in the Hunter Valley, later, extending the holding by purchasing two adjoining parcels of land. He renamed the property Mount Pleasant. The Riverina-based McWilliam family purchased a half share of Mount Pleasant and encouraged O’Shea to continue with his winemaking style and creations, the family winery then acquired the remaining share in 1941. With the McWilliam family’s financial backing, O’Shea selected and purchased the Lovedale and Rosehill properties and planted vines in 1946. McWilliam’s Mount Pleasant draws on its extensive viticultural resources, including acclaimed single vineyards, to create its award winning wines.
